DAMP-PROOFERS RETURN TO TARGET ELDERLY


If you are elderly or have elderly relatives/neighbours, please be on the lookout for people targeting pensioners and offering a free damp-proof survey. The firm use hard sell tactics and invariably the ‘free’ survey results in expensive and unnecessary remedial work.

The firm often use an address in Docklands, London and are believed to be currently targeting Barrow. The company hit Barrow earlier this year and left elderly householders out of pocket.

Phil Ashcroft, Head of Cumbria Trading Standards, said

“Never employ cold callers. Experience shows that firms who arrive on the doorstep uninvited to do property repairs create problems. Overcharging and shoddy workmanship are their hallmarks”.
