COUNTY COUNCIL LAUNCHES DOORSTEP CRIME CAMPAIGN

PHOTOCALL/INTERVIEW OPPORTUNITY

NORTH YORKSHIRE County Council is launching a major campaign to tackle doorstep crime.

The county council's trading standards unit has joined forces with a number of other organisations including the police in an attempt to persuade householders not to deal with cold calling doorstep sellers.

The clear message is that throughout North Yorkshire cold callers are simply not welcome.

Your are invited to send a reporter/photographer to cover this event where you will have the opportunity to interview a victim of doorstep crime, a former detective chief superintendent now engaged as a doorstep crime consultant, as well as senior councillors and officers involved in the campaign.

Please arrive at the main reception, County Hall, Northallerton on Monday, November 24 by 10.15am and ask for either Tony Webster or Rowena Fay from the communications unit.
