Consumer Law Training Course
(1/2 day courses)

Venue: West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service, Morley

I want my money back! I know my rights! If you don’t do this I’ll go to Trading Standards!

Heard these comments before? Do you know when your customer is right or when you can say no? Why not hear it from Trading Standards themselves?

This course is aimed at businesses that want to know more about the law in relation to consumers.

Legislation gives your customers rights when they purchase goods and services. As of 31st March this year the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations gave additional rights to consumers.

These changes to the law mean retailers now have more to consider when customers bring items back claiming they are faulty.

The main features of these Regulations are:

  • A customer may ask for a repair or replacement
  • A customer may request the seller reduce the purchase pric
  • If in dispute the burden of proof is with the seller for 6 months

West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service is holding a half-day course to help businesses brush up on their civil law.

The course will cover the Sale of Goods Act, the Sale and Supply of Goods to Consumers Regulations, Distance Selling Regulations and the law with regards to guarantees, deposits, deliveries, credit notes and much more. The course will include a questions and answers session.
