TODDLER DEATH
: SWEETS WARNING

TRADING standards Officers once again are alerting businesses and consumers of the potential choking hazard posed by a mini jelly cup type of sweet imported from Asia.

This warning follows the death of a young child in February in the UK, thought to have been caused by choking on one of these sweets.

The jelly like sweets are sold in a variety of fruit flavours and found in mini cups about the size of a single - serve coffee creamer and may or may not contain a chunk of fruit.

Mick King County Trading Standards Officer for Northumberland County Council said: “Following this tragedy I would repeat our previous advice that anyone who may have bought any of these sweets should safely dispose of them or return them to where they were purchased.”

Further advice is available from the Trading Standards Department of Northumberland County Council on 01670 534585.
