Mini fruit gel sweets containing Konjac, have been found on sale in the UK. This type of sweet presents a choking hazard and was banned from sale in the UK in April 2002.

These mini-cup jelly products are sold individually in dome-shaped plastic cups about the size of a coffee creamer, with a rounded edge; sometimes they are sold from 1Kg plastic jars. Konjac is listed in the ingredients list on the reverse of the jar.

The Food Standards Agency issued this warning and Cumbria Trading Standards will be checking retail outlets in the County.

Anyone who thinks that they may have bought/seen these sweets, is asked to contact their local Trading Standards Office.
