More food products containing the illegal colouring Sudan 1 have been discovered by the Food Standards Agency. The products are Samosas and Spring Rolls under the Maysum brand. The products have been on sale in various small independent retail outlets that specialise in the sale of Asian/Indian foodstuffs, mainly in the North of England and London areas.

Sudan 1 is thought to be a genotoxic carcinogen which if taken regularly over a long period could cause cancer.

Officers from Cumbria Trading Standards have not found the product on sale in Cumbria. The manufacturer Bake-a-Paste Ltd of Leeds have ordered a trade recall of the products, but if anyone has bought them they are advised to throw them away.
