TRADING STANDARDS SEMINAR FOR THE HOME IMPROVEMENTS INDUSTRY

NORTH YORKSHIRE County Council's trading standards service has organised two seminars intended to help businesses in the home improvements industry understand the laws that affect them.

Topics covered will include contract law and contract terms and conditions, selling to customers in their homes, advertising, trade descriptions and pricing, and what to do when things go wrong.

There will also be an opportunity to meet officers from the service and to learn about the ways in which the trading standards service can help businesses.

Councillor John Dennis executive member with responsibility for trading standards said: “Building and double-glazing companies have a bad reputation for complaints to trading standards so we know that there is a need for training in this industry. The county council is committed to working with businesses to help them understand trading standards laws so they can better serve their customers and I hope that as many businesses as possible will attend”.

The seminars, which will take place on 26th February in Scarborough and 12th March in Harrogate, cost £25 per attendee and will include refreshments and an information pack. Anyone interested in attending should contact David Sayer by e-mail at David.Sayer@northyorks.gov.uk or phone on 01609 532307.
