Trading Standards Champion Community Safety

NATIONAL Consumer Week runs from 10 –14 November 2003 and this year’s focus is ‘Community Safety’.

During the week, Northumberland County Council Trading Standards Department will be out and about across the county highlighting consumer safety and informing the public about the ways in which Northumberland Trading Standards work to keep the public safe.

The road show will visit the Swan Leisure Centre in Berwick upon Tweed on Wednesday 12 November, Manor Walks Shopping Centre in Cramlington on Thursday 13 November and Wentworth Leisure Centre in Hexham on Friday November 14.

Members of the public are encouraged to come and visit the stands, and a member of Northumberland’s Consumer Helpline team will be available to provide advice and answer questions on the day.

National Consumer Week is an annual event co-ordinated by the Trading Standards Institute and it highlights issues that are of concern to consumers – previous subjects covered have been the issue of doorstep crime and debt.
