The Motor Trade Partnership welcomes on board its newest member

West Yorkshire Trading Standards Service is delighted to welcome on board its newest member to its successful Motor Trade Partnership.

The Car People of Calder Island, Denby Dale Road, Wakefield, have signed up to the terms and condition set by Trading Standards.

The Partnership was launched after complaints against the motor industry accounted for 19% of all complaints received by the Service.

The members have to agree to abide by the terms and conditions of membership, this ensures the members: -

a) Comply with the spirit and letter of the law
b) Ensure that an approved complaints procedure is in place
c) Give a full refund if you find that the vehicle has been clocked within a year of purchase
d) Tell you the full condition/status of the vehicle
e) Take all reasonable steps to verify the mileage of vehicles
f) Not undertake any work without obtaining the consumers permission
g) Ensure that parts replaced are made available to the consumer for inspection

Councillor Clarke Chairman of West Yorkshire Joint Services said “These are just a few of the benefits to consumers of choosing a Partnership Member. The scheme is aimed at ensuring that consumer complaints are handled swiftly and with the least inconvenience to the consumer. It is imperative that the consumers of West Yorkshire are aware of the Partnership and know what safeguards it offers them. I would encourage consumers to “look for the logo” when choosing a company to do business with.
